Purpose of ....

 

 

   The original funding of $1,233,654 (10 billion Korean Won) was provided by the government of the Republic of Korea to help the children of the victims of the1992 Los Angeles riots with their education. The scholarship foundation was named American Korean Edward Lee Scholarship Foundation and was incorporated in California on August 20, 1993. The name of the foundation  was changed to Korean Heritage Scholarship Foundation on October 27, 2000.

 

 

 

 

 

Purpose of the Foundation

   The purpose of this foundation is to award scholarships to needy students who demonstrate good scholastic ability, good character, and a willingness to make contributions to their communities and to society as a whole; and who are:

 

 

  • Children of Korean-Americans who sustained property damage, personal injury, and/or monetary loss in the 1992 Los Angeles riot;

 

 

  • Minority students, including Korean Americans, in the greater Los Angeles area;

 

 

  • Children of peace officers who serve in the greater Los Angeles area;
