Q:        What is the amount of the scholarship?

 

 

A:        $1,500 per student

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q:        When is the application deadline?

 

 

A:        The application package needs to be postmarked by April 29th of the year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q:        When are you going to notify the awardees?

 

 

A:        The awardees will be notified individually by May 31st of the year..

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q:        When is the awards ceremony?

 

 

A:        Annual Awards will be held at 6 p.m. during the later half of the month in June.  The awardees will be notified of the exact date at a later time.

 

 

 

 

Q:        Where is the awards ceremony held?

Q:        Do I need to attend the awards ceremony?

 

 

A:        It is recommended, but if you attend school outside of Southern California,

 

 

you may have a representative accept the scholarship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q:        Do I need to be a Korean-American?

 

 

A:        No.  See the next FAQ for qualifications.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q:        What are the qualifications to apply for the scholarship?

 

 

  A:        An applicant must, during the applicable scholarship year (from September of this calendar year to June of next calendar year), be a full-time college student, the student must be in good standing, with financial need, scholastic ability, character, community service, and potential to make a contribution to the community.

 

An applicant must also belong to one of the following three categories:

 

 

 

  1. Children of Korean-Americans who sustained property damage, personal injury, and/or monetary loss in the 1992 Los Angeles Riot.

 

  1. Minority students, including Korean-Americans, in the greater Los Angeles area.

 

  1. Children of Peace Officers who serve in the Greater Los Angeles area.
